The Golden Record
Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 were launched into outer space in 1977. Its trajectory was set to escape the gravity of earth and travel to unknown territory in space. The voyager team enlisted a team led by Carl Sagan to produce the "Golden Record." This record consists of sounds and images that represent our civilization if it were ever to be found by another species. The video to the left displays 116 images that were decided to best represent our life. These images could also be considered 116 reasons life is beautiful. Below, I will choose my favourite image and explain its significance.
This picture depicts a father holding his baby son. It is definitely my favourite image on the record as I believe it best encapsulates the beauty of life. The Golden Record used this picture to highlight the relationship between a father and his son. It shows one of the many beautiful things about humans. The image also helps to convey the use of human eyes to see. The father looking up at his son helps to show that our eyes are used for vision. Overall, the image depicts human emotions of love and joy. I believe this is a great image that could be used to define the beauty of humanity
